Born in southern Kentucky, Van Zant grew up engulfed in faith, family, and southern rock. Learning to play and sing in the church, then quickly discovering the music of artist like Lynyrd Skynryd, Marshall Tucker, The Allman Brothers, and blues rock heroes such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, and B.B. King. From Countless hours spent learning the techniques of his musical mentors Van Zant formed his own take and style of playing and singing. Blues, southern rock, country, and passionate, faith filled lyric, all tossed in together to present a fresh yet familiar sound to listeners everywhere.
